Deciding what to eat for dinner now requires a lot more thought than simply buying the ingredients. Production, packaging and food waste all have a huge environmental impact, but BBC Good Food’s sustainability hub helps provide the answers.

When BBC Good Food decided to launch a new sustainability hub on their website, they asked Lark to create a bank of articles answering some common questions and offering advice on how to eat more sustainably, alongside their recipes.

They wanted to provide environmentally minded cooks with ‘planet-friendlier’ inspiration and realistic solutions to issues including how to cut your carbon footprint, going vegan, which plastic packaging to avoid, and how climate change is affecting our favourite foods, among (many!) others.

“Thank you for this helpful and practical article.”

Reader feedback on one of the articles

Paul, our co-founder and director, covered sustainability for The Guardian and previously headed up an environmental project for the BBC called BBC Green. Editor Roz has written widely on health and environmental issues throughout her career. So they know how to turn complex – and often worrying – issues into practical and reassuring articles for readers.

Every article we create for BBC Good Food takes in the latest scientific studies, data-driven research and expert opinion to help inform and inspire. They also offer a range of solutions, as we know there are many different ways to make an impact and not every one will suit, well, everyone!

Since the sustainability hub has been created, we continue to work with the Good Food team, creating articles for the website and BBC Good Food magazine. This has led to Lark now producing long-read pieces for the Good Food channel on Apple News.

We also regularly update existing articles with new stats or research to make sure we're always offering the latest advice on how to cook, eat and live more sustainably.
